connect 2018 • 96 July, 2017 For the third year running festive Sydney Young Leaders gathered at the Magners’ Rooftop Bar in Jackson’s on George for a much-loved Aussie seasonal event, Christmas in July. The crowd saw a mixture of old and new faces of Young Leaders, but all with the same goal, to raise money for The Ireland Funds Australia’s flagship charities and to enjoy Christmas cheer together. Guests were treated to a merry glass of mulled wine and the festive spirit came to life with classic tunes and seasonal hits played by the Tribesmen. Thank you to Kevin Sinnott, Managing Director of Sonder Consultants who sponored the event. August, 2017 Inspired by the innovation at the inaugural Science Gallery in Trinity College Dublin, The Ireland Funds Australia was delighted to join with Melbourne University’s Sci- ence Gallery Melbourne as their official opening night partner for their first pop-up exhibition, BLOOD Attract and Repel. Chair- man Yvonne Le Bas, Executive Director Teresa Keating, Board Members Peter Ryan and Paul O’Brien along with some of the Melbourne Young Leaders attended the launch which had over 16,000 visitors in total. When it opens in 2020, Science Gallery will be a public-facing, dynamic and engaging space to inspire young adults into the STEM workforce. With 75% of future jobs in Australia expected to require STEM qualifications, Science Gallery programs will spark the minds of tomorrow’s innovators.
