AROUND THE WORLD AUSTRALIA connect 2019 • 104 July 2018 Many friends of The Ireland Funds Australia attended the annual supporters’ lunch kindly hosted by David Kelly and PricewaterhouseCoopers at their new state-of-the- art offices in Barangaroo. David welcomed guests and said PricewaterhouseCoopers were proud to continue to support the work of The Ireland Funds as they have done for more than 15 years. Chairman Yvonne Le Bas welcomed all and provided an update on the work of The Ireland Funds Australia, including a record-breaking grant round of over $1.8 million commencing in June, 2018 and she thanked guests for all their support as without them our work would not be possible. H.E. Breandán Ó Caollaí, Ambassador of Ireland to Australia, thanked guests on Ireland’s behalf, not only for their financial support but for their friendship and care for the people of Ireland. Guests were also entertained by the Australian Youth Orchestra. Chairman Yvonne Le Bas spoke about the partnerships between Trinity and The Ireland Funds including the support of the exciting new Trinity St. James’s Cancer Institute which is setting a new standard for cancer treat- ment in Ireland by providing a dedicated facility to consolidate cancer activities and expertise within the next 5-7 years. The event provided an opportunity for guests to pledge their support to assist in the delivery of this unique project.
