On August 25th Bernard McEvoy and Neill Shrimpton, both partners at Brown Rudnick LLP, led a team of cyclists – Gerald Byrne, Ercus Stewart SC, Kenneth Dalby, Matt Hoyle and Ben Williams from Land’s End to John O’Groats coving over 1,039 miles of Great British countryside. The team undertook the cycle to raise funds for and an awareness of The Ireland Fund of Great Britain’s “Forgotten Irish” Campaign. The Forgotten Irish Campaign, now much imitated by many organizations, seeks to support the vulnerable and elderly Irish in the UK who live in isolation, poverty and deprivation, often without the support of friends or family.
The team had a wonderful time and entertained everyone back at home with their blogs and daily awards for “Langer of the Day” and “Performer of the Day”.
The cycle ride was a tremendous success raising £25,000 for the IFGB and Bernard is now busy planning another cycle from Malin to Mizen in September 2014. If you are interested in getting involved please contact Cecily at chenderson@irlfunds.org.
