London – Cycle Land’s End to John O’Groats 2013

Date : 25th August, 2013

This summer Beard McEvoy and Neill Shrimpton, both Partners at the law firm Brown Rudnick LLP and members of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce, will take on the grueling task of cycling from Land's End and John O'Groats taking in a total of 1,039 miles in 10 days. They will set off on Sunday 25th August and finish on Wednesday 4th September and will visit Irish Centres along the way.

A team of six others Gerald Bye, Ercus Stewart, Kenneth Dalby, Barry Crushell, Matt Hoyle and Ben Williams will join Beard and Neill in the challenge. Each hopes to raise a minimum of £1,000 for IFGB’s Forgotten Irish Campaign.

On why they want to support the Forgotten Irish Beard says that "having watched a number of programmes on the Forgotten Irish I was and am always moved by the conditions that some Irish people are living in. A number of close relations of my parents came to the UK in the 50's and 60's. For those who have been 'forgotten' I believe we, as a nation, owe them something better."
With the support of The Ireland Fund of Great Britain and the British Irish Chamber of Commerce of Ireland we hope to raise significantly more money for the Forgotten Irish campaign.
