WineGeese Guinness and Oysters

September 15th, 2010, the New York Chapter of The Ireland Funds WineGeese Society gathered in downtown Manhattan for a celebration of Guinness & Oysters. The beautiful September evening was hosted outdoors at the Dubliner, on the historic cobblestone streets.

Kieran McLoughlin, President & CEO of The Worldwide Ireland Funds welcomed the guests. He mentioned that while the WineGeese events are normally based around wine and the grape, tonight the focus has shifted to Guinness and the grain.

Ronan Downs, owner of the Dubliner, spoke to guests of the wonderful tradition of Guinness and Oysters in Ireland. “The creamy Guinness and the briny oysters make for one of the most unexpectedly delicious combinations”, Ronan remarked. Being two of Ireland’s greatest commodities, a celebration of Guinness & Oysters was a lovely way to bring a piece of Ireland to the guests.

Ken Gorman and John Sharkey, Chairmen of The WineGeese Society, thanked the guests for coming to join them on this beautiful evening. They also took the opportunity to thank all of the 2010 New York Dinner Committee Members in attendance for their hard work and resounding success this year at the Gala in May, 2010.

The great weather, the good company and the Guinness & Oysters made for another wonderful evening with the WineGeese.
