St. Patrick’s Day Reception

The Ireland Fund of Great Britain celebrated St Patricks Day in style with a fundraising reception for 400 guests in Middle Temple Hall. This splendid Elizabethan Hall was the setting for an evening of Irish music performed by Liadan, who travelled over from Ireland, and flautist Garret McLearnon who welcomed guests with delightful traditional music.

The Irish Ambassador HE Bobby McDonagh, Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton and guests were welcomed by IFGB Co-Chairs Basil Geoghegan and Ruth McCarthy. Basil thanked the committee, led by Zach Webb, for their wonderful efforts in making the event such a success.    He also spoke of his forthcoming Everest expedition and his aspiration to raise £100,000 for the Forgotten Irish Campaign.

Minister Joan Burton addressed the guests, praising the efforts of the Ireland Fund of Great Britain in its work and reiterating the positive work the Irish government is doing to bring the country back to its full potential and prosperity. The Ireland Fund would like to thank Aer Lingus, Diageo, Grange Hotels and event sponsor Worldspreads for their generous support of the event.
