Gatsby Gala comes to Singapore.
The Singapore Ireland Fund held its Annual Emerald Ball at the St Regis Singapore. The Ballroom was decked out in true Gatsby style with feathers, flowers and balloons. Most of the 350 guests came enthusiastically dressed with their finest feathers, pearls and bling.
The Big Band regaled the audience with their 1920’s music. Mrs Noor Quek, Board Member of The Singapore Ireland Fund, gave an impromptu rendition of Autumn leaves, I love you for sentimental reasons and I wish you love. The audience were treated to a Ceili dancing demonstration followed by a fun audience participation to live Irish music led by Sharon Dunleavy.
Proceeds from the Live and Silent auction items, including artwork, a trip to Ireland and gourmet dinners, will be donated to Hospice Care in Singapore and Palliative Care Training in Ireland. Representatives from HCA Hospice Care, Metta Hospice Care and Assisi Hospice & Palliative Care received cheques totalling $400,000.
Dr Stanley Quek thank supporters, volunteers and exco members, in particular Sheila Lim and Deirdre Hayes, for generously contributing to the success of the Emerald Ball.
