San Francisco Young Leaders – Giants Irish Heritage Night 2013

On Tuesday, September 10th,  San Francisco's AIF Young Leaders gathered for a shindig at Pete's Tavern with a pre-game reception, followed by an evening of baseball at AT&T Park.

The San Francisco Giants hosted the Colorado Rockies in the middle game of a three game series and the Young Leaders were out in force to cheer them on.  This was the San Francisco Giants Irish Heritage Night and AIF West Coast Director,  Marjorie Muldowney, welcomed back several great supporters and friends of the Fund including SFYL Society Chair, Mike McGrath, as well as Ian Casey, Ivan Harrow and Kerry Egan who was there with Jamie Hamm, Scott Lewis, Jan Fechter & Amy Fechter.

We were delighted to see Ian Hunter and Stuart Campbell of Invest Northern Ireland and also Tim Cronin and his guest, Pete Ellison. Sarah Kane Coogan brought along several new faces including family members Brody Kane, Kelsey Kane & Mark Dias.  Our most recent Young Leader member, Billy Morris was there with Lauren Peterson.  Tara Ryan (recently transplanted from Boston) shared Boston College stories with Mark Muldowney (both BC alums).  Also in the group were Neil Sands and Philip Healy.  The guest list also included Fergus Hurley and Gillian Silver & Joey Toboni. After the reception, we headed over to the game all decked out in our special green & white Cat in the Hat headgear, cheering when we saw The American Ireland Fund recognized on the big screen during the third inning!

Light winds and warmer temperatures made this a very pleasant evening at the ballpark and Hunter Pence made baseball history on Tuesday night, joining the exclusive 20-homer, 20-steal club. Unfortunately, the San Francisco Giants suffered a disappointing 9-8 loss to the Colorado Rockies.  Not the outcome we'd hoped for on the field…but a fun night of festivities for our San Francisco Young Leaders!
