Royal Irish Academy of Music Chicago Performance
On Wednesday November 20th, The Ireland Funds and its supporters were treated to a special lunchtime performance by the Royal Irish Academy of Music’s (RIAM) The Sonic Quartet. These four exceptional young students gave us a masterclass in chamber music and finished to a standing ovation from the audience.
Part of the RIAM Scholars Tour, this event marked the US debut of the dynamic group who performed some of the great 19th and 20th century chamber music works.
The event was held in the renowned Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist and broadcast simultaneously on WFMT . The performance formed part of the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert and presented by Classical Music Chicago. Consul General of Ireland in Chicago, Brian Cahalane, kindly hosted a reception afterwards which provided the guests an opportunity to meet the musicians.
