On Wednesday, July 19th, The New York Young Leaders gathered for their annual seasonal tradition “Summer in The City.”
This year’s event took place at the fabulous Refinery Rooftop lounge in midtown Manhattan. Surrounded by sweeping views of NY landmarks including the Empire State Building, the Young Leaders and friends sipped cocktails and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres while Peadar O’Hickey’s band performed favorite Irish tunes and modern classics. It was the first gathering of The Ireland Funds New York Young Leaders since many of them had met in Wicklow with other Young Leaders from around the world for the recent Ireland Funds Worldwide Conference.
Later in the evening, Pat Tully, National Director of the Young Leaders, addressed supporters and spoke about the great year the Young Leaders and indeed The Ireland Funds are experiencing. Pat shared the announcement from Music Generation that The Ireland Funds, U2 and Bank of America are launching the next phase of Music Generation, entering nine new areas in Ireland as part of the mission to spread music education to every child in Ireland in the coming years.
Pat then led a fun live auction, including a trip to Ireland to go see the work of The Ireland Funds on the ground and enjoy some golf and Irish hospitality.
Special thanks to Delta Air Lines, BMW and Union Beer Distributors for their support as well as Terrence Tubridy and the team at Refinery Rooftop.
