THE IRELAND FUNDS

In 1976, Dan Rooney and Tony O’Reilly founded The Ireland Fund with an inaugural New York Dinner. With a trinity of goals – peace, culture and charity – their vision was to deliver philanthropic support to worthy causes across the island of Ireland. Today, The Ireland Funds’ mission is to harness the power of a global philanthropic network of friends of Ireland to promote and support peace, culture, education, and community development across the island of Ireland and among Irish communities around the world.

Having supported the work of over 3,200 outstanding organizations, recent highlights of our impact include:

♦  Sending almost 300 secondary school students from over 40 DEIS schools (designated as disadvantaged by The Irish Government) to university for the 2022/2023 academic year through The Ireland Funds No Mind Left Behind Scholarship Program

♦  Funding over 130 small nonprofit groups in towns and villages across Ireland through The Ireland Funds Heart of the Community Fund, as they respond to the current and emerging needs of their communities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic

♦  Supporting 7 Irish charities working to ensure access to education, resettlement and community integration, accommodation, employment, and the provision of mental health services to the 62,000 Ukrainian refugees who have arrived in Ireland under dire circumstances through The Ireland Funds Ukrainian Relief Fund

♦  …as well as supporting the work of other nonprofits including: The African American Irish Diaspora Network, The Early Learning Initiative, The Native Woodland Trust, Barnardos, The Irish Cancer Society, Irish Arts Center, and Social Entrepreneurs Ireland
