The Journey to Better

For 7 years now, PGA Golfer & Major Champion Graeme McDowell, together with Chairman of the Board Eamonn Coghlan, have led the Best of Ireland Gala Dinner. The Portrush native has annually juggled a busy calendar and created an event that is closing in on a magical $4m milestone. A dad now too, Graeme and the Dinner Committee have been instrumental in building The New Children’s Heart Centre at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin; a New Cardiac Unit in that same centre; and provided funding of The Clinical Fellowship Programme for young Irish doctors. A true journey to a better world for pediatric healthcare.

Discovery.
Leadership.
Transformation.

When medical scientific research meets with incredible clinical care and innovation; that is where miracles are made mainstream. That is where progress for children can be made, where more lives can be saved and improved. CMRF wants to enable the breakthroughs of the future, the pioneers and pioneer projects and initiatives that will disrupt the status quo, personalize treatment specifically for children, and greatly enhance the landscape of children’s health, in Ireland and abroad.

GREAT PARTNERSHIPS INCREDIBLE RESULTS!

The proceeds from the Best of Ireland dinners have helped some of our sickest children. The close-knit partnership forged between The Children’s Medical Research Foundation (CMRF), The GMAC Foundation, and The Ireland Funds America, demonstrates the power of committed people and organizations working together to make a positive difference to the lives of others. Thanks to the generosity of all those who supported our dinners, four new rooms have been fully funded at The Children’s Heart Centre at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, Dublin – a brand new state of the art facility caring for over 550 patients annually – and we have funded critical important pediatric research, benefiting all sick children around the world.

Since 1984, CMRF has been dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children and their families affected by childhood illness and disease. Proud of our long history, our primary focus has been to support Ireland’s leading pediatric research institution, the National Children’s Research Centre based at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin in Dublin, Ireland.

A non-profit 501(c)(3) organisation, the Foundation is based in NYC and is affiliated with the Children’s Medical Research Foundation in Crumlin, Ireland.

The GMAC Foundation and Graeme McDowell are committed to supporting seriously ill children in Ireland and the United States. Working with the leaders in children’s medicine, the Foundation raises funds for vital pediatric research and critical hospital projects. In addition, the Foundation brings children recovering from serious illnesses, and their families, from all over Ireland to Florida for the holiday of a lifetime. Graeme is also a committed supporter of Multiple Sclerosis charities, a cause that remains as one of his personal priorities.

The Ireland Funds’ mission is to harness the power of a global philanthropic network of friends of Ireland to promote and support peace, culture, education and community development across the island of Ireland and among Irish communities around the world. The Ireland Funds America holds a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and the Platinum GuideStar Nonprofit Profile Seal of Transparency in recognition of efficiency, sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.
