Every year, The Ireland Funds recognizes a person of outstanding character and business acumen with the Leslie C. Quick Jr. Leadership Award. This year the recipient is Stephen R. Howe, Jr., US Chairman & Americas Managing Partner of EY. In the Americas, EY member firms operate in 30 countries. Steve leads the U.S. and Americas Executive Boards and represents EY in regulatory relationships. Steve is also on EY’s Global Executive Board. He serves as Executive Sponsor for the Firm’s focus on diversity and inclusiveness and has been with EY for 35 years. Prior to his role as U.S. Chairman and Americas Managing Partner, Steve served as Managing Partner of the Financial Services Office and led EY’s client service teams for a number of global financial institutions. Steve has been honored by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) as a Directorship 100 honoree, recognizing him as one of the most influential leaders in the boardroom and corporate governance community. Accounting Today named Steve to their “Top 100 Most Influential People” list of the thought leaders and visionaries shaping the accounting profession. He has been recognized as one of the top “100 CEO Leaders in STEM” by STEMconnector. Steve was the keynote speaker in 2017 when EY-US was named #1 by DiversityInc and is the 2016 recipient of the A. Leon Higginbotham Corporate Leadership Award, recognizing exemplary leadership in promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace. He was also honored with the John D. Kemp Leadership Award by USBLN for his commitment and leading disability inclusion practices. Steve graduated from Colgate University with a BA in Mathematical Economics and from the Stern School at New York University with an MBA in Accounting and Finance. He serves on the Board of Governors of the Center for Audit Quality, the Board of the Partnership for New York City, the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Hall, the Board of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, and previously, the Board of Trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation and the Board of Trustees of Colgate University. Steve and his wife Kate are active supporters of a number of charities and Steve is actively involved in the development and support of EY’s Corporate Responsibility initiatives. Steve and Kate have four children and reside in Pleasantville, NY.

COLIN FARRELL
Award-winning Actor
Colin Farrell will be recognized by The Ireland Funds as an ambassador of Irish culture throughout his extensive film career. He has created awareness around the work of many organizations assisted by The Ireland Funds including Special Olympics, Fighting Words, Crumlin Children’s Hospital, and BeLonG To Youth Services. A native of Ireland, Colin Farrell continues to turn heads in Hollywood. In 2009 Farrell won a Golden Globe for his role in Martin McDonagh’s “In Bruges” and reteamed with McDonagh in 2012 for “Seven Psychopaths”. He was most recently nominated again for “Best Actor” at the European Film Awards for Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Killing of a Sacred Deer” opposite Barry Keoghan and Nicole Kidman which premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Other past work includes Yorgos Lanthimos’ “The Lobster” starring opposite Rachel Weisz, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”; “Saving Mr. Banks”; “Total Recall”; Peter Weir’s “The Way Back”; the Warner Bros. comedy “Horrible Bosses”; “Miami Vice”; Oliver Stone’s “Alexander”; Terrence Malick’s “The New World”; Steven Spielberg’s “Minority Report,” and John Crowley’s “Intermission.” In 2015, he made his TV debut in the second season of HBO’s “True Detective.” Current projects include “Roman Israel, Esq.” starring opposite Denzel Washington and Sofia Coppola’s “The Beguiled,” a remake of the 1971 Clint Eastwood film opposite Elle Fanning, Kristen Dunst and Nicole Kidman. He recently wrapped production on the New Regency drama “Widows” directed by Steve McQueen starring opposite Viola Davis, and the Disney live action film “Dumbo” directed by Tim Burton, set for release in March, 2019.
