Bob & Laurie Monahan

Bob and Laurie Monahan have garnered a reputation both nationally and locally on Nantucket as extraordinarily generous benefactors. Bob & Laurie Monahan co-chaired the Boston Pops on Nantucket in 2014 and 2018 with extraordinary success. Both events raised significant support for Nantucket Cottage Hospital.

Robert “Bob” J. Monahan is the Chairman of the U.S. Strategic Leadership Center for corporate, government, and nonprofit leaders. He is the CEO of The Monahan Group, a diversified development and holding company in Gettysburg.  

Bob is deeply committed to the military and has a reputation for leadership excellence. He served as co-chair of the 2013 Congressional Medal of Honor Society Convention in Gettysburg and again in 2018 at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis. He is on the Advisory Board for the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and is currently a member of the Commissioning Committee of the USS Thomas Hudner and USS Nantucket. 

Bob has served on the board of directors of many civic and charitable organizations, including, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Dwight D. Eisenhower Society, and Gettysburg Hospital. He is currently the Chair for the $5 million renovation of St Mary’s Church & Rectory on Nantucket and has also served as a gala chair for Nantucket Holiday for Heroes. 

Laurie Monahan has served as chair for several events in DC, these include Refugees International, National Museum for Women in the Arts, Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation, Lombardi Cancer Center, and Choral Arts Society. She has also chaired events for the Nantucket Artist’s Association, Nantucket Historical Association, Save Our Sound, and International Fund for Animal Welfare. In 2022 Laurie Co-Chaired the Nantucket Safe Harbor for Animals Gala.

Laurie Monahan worked in advertising and film. She was a casting director and independent producer of cable shows and commercial films.  

Bob and Laurie reside in Palm Beach, Fl and Nantucket, MA. They are the proud parents of three grown daughters.
