Professor Patrick McGorry AO, MBBS, MD, PhD, FRCP, FRANZCP, is Executive Director of Orygen Youth Health Research Centre and Professor of Youth Mental Health at the Centre for Youth Mental Health, University of Melboue. He is also a founding board member of the National Youth Mental Health Foundation (headspace). Professor McGorry is a world-leading researcher in the area of early psychosis and youth mental health and his innovative research has played an integral role in the development of safe, effective treatments for young people with emerging mental disorders, notably the psychotic and severe mood disorders.
Tony Griffin is one of Ireland’s leading social entrepreneurs and youth advocates. A former national all-star of hurling, Tony is a co-founder and CEO of the Soar Foundation. In 2011, having watched a documentary on Irish bo Australian Rules football legend Jim Stynes, Griffin and his friend Karl Swan traveled to Melboue to lea from Stynes’ Reach Foundation. This led Tony and Karl to embark upon establishing the award winning Soar Foundation in Ireland, which is rapidly becoming one of Ireland’s best known and exciting youth organisations.
Tom Harkin is a passionate facilitator, trainer of group facilitators, MC, Interviewer and Speaker but above all a student of the human condition and what makes every individual great. Today Tom trains facilitators at the Australian based Reach Foundation and at SOAR in Ireland to create powerful workshops helping young people to understand and experience their innate potential as they are our future. He also works with organisations, specializing in executive leadership driven by a belief that corporations hold an influencial role in society today. In between these he still occasionally facilitates workshops with young people to remain influenced by the magic of youth.
