On Thursday March 16th, The Ireland Funds hosted a special St. Patrick’s Day Leadership Series breakfast in the law offices of Allen Matkins in Downtown LA, whose 29th floor boardroom provided fantastic panoramic views of the city. Guest speaker was Brendan Griffin T.D., Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, who was joined by Vice Consul General of Ireland to the Western U.S. John Callaghan.
Jonathan Loughran VP Development for The Ireland Funds opened the breakfast and welcomed guests to the event. The theme of the conversation was St Patrick’s Day as an opportunity to celebrate Ireland’s diaspora and their achievements, as well as the important contribution of The Ireland Funds to peace and reconciliation on the island of Ireland, the unfinished work in Northern Ireland, the need for greater reconciliation/integration in this challenging political climate, and the Government of Ireland’s commitment to the Good Friday agreement as well as touching on the potential impact of Brexit.
It was a beautiful setting and there was a lively, informative Q&A discussion with the Minister and assembled supporters of The Ireland Funds.
