About Glen
Glen Hansard is an Oscar and Grammy Award-winning musician from Dublin. He has championed the work of organizations providing services to those affected by homelessness, including the Dublin Simon Community and Fr. Peter McVerry Trust, both supported by The Ireland Funds. Glen made his acting debut in Alan Parker’s feature film The Commitments (1991) and he went on to star in John Carney’s hit film Once (2007), for which Glen won an Academy Award for Best Song. He is also known for his solo career as well as his work with bands such as The Frames, The Swell Season and the Broadway musical sensation Once which won 8 Tony Awards. This intimate evening with Glen will include a musical performance and a discussion highlighting his career in music, film and theatre as well as his passion for philanthropy. Glen has an inspiring story to tell.
About Jason
Actor, screenwriter, producer and author Jason Segel broke onto our screen’s in Judd Apatow’s Emmy nominated television series Freaks and Geeks for NBC followed by a 9 year run as “Marshall” on the CBS hit comedy series How I Met Your Mother. Segel’s film career has included the hugely successful films Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek, The Muppets (all of which he wrote/co-wrote), Knocked Up, This is 40, I Love You, Man, Bad Teacher, Jeff Who Lives at Home, Gulliver’s Travels, Despicable Me, and the critically acclaimed The End of the Tour for which he received and Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Male Lead. Segel will next star in Charlie McDowell’s The Discovery starring opposite Robert Redford and Rooney Mara, niece of Dan Rooney, co-founder of The Ireland Funds.
