The City
Lunch will bring together the leading figures from London’s business community
to raise awareness for worthy Irish causes in Great
Britain and Ireland. The afteoon will offer guests and dignitaries an
opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new connections while
supporting worthwhile charitable causes.
We are
delighted that the esteemed Paul Drechsler CBE will be our special guest speaker to
follow on from previous honourees such as Peter Sutherland KCMG, Niall
Fitzgerald KBE and Michael O’Leary.
Prior to
being the President of The Confederation of British Industry and Chairman of
shipping giant Bibby Line, Irish bo Paul spent 24 years at ICI Plc., rising
to the position of CEO at one of its principal inteational businesses and as
a main board Director in 1998. He later joined Wates construction group in 2004
and served as its Chairman and CEO until 2014.
Paul
is additionally Chairman of the charity Teach First, a board member of Business
in the Community and chairman of its Education Leadership Team and was previously
Chairman of the National Skills Funding Agency.
The Ireland Funds have raised more than $500
million for over 3,000 worthy causes in Ireland and around the world.
