Biography

Mark FitzGerald is Chairman and CEO of the Sherry FitzGerald Group and has spent 40 years in the property industry.

He founded the company, along with partners, in 1982 and has led the company since then.

He negotiated the company’s commercial property link with the inteational firm of DTZ Holdings, as well as leading innovation in the Irish estate agency industry through the franchising of Sherry FitzGerald in the late 1990’s.

In 2001 he instigated the collaborative setting up by a number of estate agents of MyHome.ie, which was subsequently sold in 2006. In 2005 he successfully led the diversification of Sherry FitzGerald into the London residential market through the acquisition of the long established business of Marsh & Parsons. In the following six years he dedicated much of his time to helping develop this business and was involved in the successful sale of Marsh & Parsons in late 2011.

Mark is a former chairman of Bord Iascaigh Mhara and is currently a non-executive director of Tedcastle’s. Mark was the national director of elections for Fine Gael in the 1997 general election and is a former trustee of the party. He was awarded the Inteational Philanthropist of the Year award in 2011 for his charity work in setting up Amawele, a schools twinning charity between Ireland and South Africa, with almost 90 schools now participating throughout the country.

Since the 1990s Mark has pioneered and supported research into the Irish housing market and was instrumental in setting up the Sherry FitzGerald House Price Index in 1996.
