On the eve of the Croke Park Classic- the American football college match taking place between Penn State and the University of Central Florida, over 175 friends and supporters of The Ireland Funds gathered at the Lansdowne Rugby Club for an All American Style BBQ. Bringing a little bit of America to Dublin, it was a night of fun and laughs.
With Aviva in the background, guests enjoyed drinks courtesy of our sponsors—Jameson and Corona. After a delicious BBQ dinner guests made sure to take advantage of our Häagen-Dazs freezer of ice cream courtesy of our friends at General Mills.
Back by popular demand was the Bucking Bronco. Guests tested their strength, or just enjoyed the sight of others attempting to show of theirs as they battled for the top prize of a NEXUS Smartphone and a 3 month contract from Blueface Mobile. Thank you Blueface, you certainly made the competition fierce.
Caitlin Duffy, Director of the Young Leaders spoke to the crowd thanking them for all their support in making the evening a success. Caitlin also thanked the event committee for all their hard work, especially, Richie Huggard, the event committee chairman. The evening was Richie’s last event before moving to NY! Richie talked about how appreciative he has been for his involvement with The Ireland Funds, from meeting great people to learning about the great work and organizations The Ireland Funds have supported. Richie will be a loss to Dublin but a gain to the NY Chapter of the Young Leaders.
It was a great turn out on the evening and especially great to see representatives from Belong To, Fighting Words and Citywise some of the spectacular programmes that The Ireland Funds have funded in recent years.
