Occasionally, The Ireland Funds has the privilege and honor to shine the spotlight on some of our longstanding and committed supporters. On Saturday, May 20 at The Beeman Hotel we had such an opportunity at the Hall of Fame Dinner and Auction. Netta Blanchard, Mike Corboy and Tommy Gallagher were inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2023 for their years of dedication and commitment to establishing the Dallas golf tournament which is now the longest running tournament held by The Ireland Funds.
Former Texas Board Member, Don Hanratty, bestowed high praises to Mike for his role in bringing the event from an idea into a reality and spoke glowingly of Mike’s characteristics as a “teambuilder, commander, friend, coach, Irishman, man for others.”
Texas Board Member, Kevin Curley, acknowledged Netta for strategically and successfully connecting people so well that she earned the moniker “Nettaworks.” Kevin referred to Netta’s vision for establishing The Ireland Funds WineGeese Society and how the program brings culture and education to supporters. She was also given an honorary Green Jacket in recognition of her years of service to the golf tournament.
John Tillotson, former Texas Board Member, discussed how Tommy met the requirements for his induction. “He not only is one of the founders, but year after year Tommy spearheaded bringing Irish golfers over for the event. He is truly a gentleman’s gentleman,” said John.
The evening was a beautiful start to the weekend, reestablishing the friendship and camaraderie amongst guests from across Texas and Ireland.
