Great Britain – Charity Workshop Series with Carmel McConnell 2021

Charity Workshop Series

The Ireland Funds Great Britain has launched a series of expert-led workshops for charities. This exciting new series aims to help charities to elevate their fundraising capabilities. Leading individuals in the charity sector will share their lived experience of taking smaller campaigns and organisations to national scale, leveraging the private and public sectors on the way.

Workshop

Our first workshop took place on 15 April on the topic of Partnering with Local and National Funders to Scale and was led by the inspiring Carmel McConnell MBE, founder of Magic Breakfast charity.

Carmel McConnell MBE

Carmel McConnell was inspired to found Magic Breakfast when she learned of the impact of hunger and poverty on children’s school attainment in the East End of London. She was named as one of Britain’s most influential women in the BBC Woman’s Hour power list 2014.

Carmel’s background is leading large corporate change; she has worked at senior levels in BT, UBS and 20th Century Fox and has been an adviser to many FTSE 100 clients on change leadership, growth and strategic alliances. Carmel was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to school food.
