Chicago Regional Advisory Committee hosts President Mary Robinson

On Saturday March 1st, The Ireland Funds Chicago Regional Advisory Committee along with the Consulate General of Ireland, Chicago, was honored to host President Mary Robinson for a special brunch during her visit to Chicago.  Guests were welcomed by Terry Brady, Chairman of the Chicago Regional Advisory Committee. It was a special opportunity for key supporters of The Ireland Funds to hear from President Robinson as she spoke of her time as the first female President of Ireland (1990-1997), her work as UN High Commissioner on Human Rights and her role as Chair of The Elders.  President Robinson shared   anecdotes of her travels around the globe, from meeting world leaders to seeing firsthand the effects of famine in Somalia. She fondly recalled her previous visits to Chicago, and we certainly hope it will not be long until she is back again.

President Robinson was in Chicago for the North American premiere of a documentary on her life, ‘Mrs. Robinson’ which aired as part of the Chicago Irish Film Festival.

Special thanks to Matt Moore, Chicago Cut Steakhouse for hosting us.
