Sister Rosemary Connelly
Misericordia
Sister Rosemary Connelly is a pioneer in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 1969 as a member of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, she began as Administrator of the Misericordia Home for children with developmental disabilities. Her unrelenting commitment to developing programs and services to better serve Misericordia’s community resulted in innovative programs addressing self-help skills, speech and physical therapy and recreational activities.
Today, Misericordia supports more than 600 children and adults from diverse religious, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds. She currently serves as Chair of the Misericordia Foundation. A native Chicagoan with parents hailing from County Mayo, Sister Connelly has led a life of compassion, advocacy and service to Misericordia and the Chicago community for over 50 years.
