On Thursday, August 21, Suzanne Corcoran, Board Director of The Ireland Funds America, and the Corcoran family graciously hosted The Ireland Funds Cape Cod Celebration on the Ocean Terrace at The Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster, MA.
Hurricane Erin added a touch of Irish spirit to the night, bringing a refreshing sea breeze and a lively atmosphere. Suzanne reflected on the inaugural Cape Cod Celebration in 2010, highlighting her father, Joe Corcoran, whose vision gave life to this cherished event as a way to thank donors and supporters of The Ireland Funds’ mission. She also shared her excitement for the upcoming 50th anniversary of The Ireland Funds and the involvement of the next generation of leaders, warmly recognizing some of our Young Leaders present.
Caitriona Fottrell, President & CEO of The Ireland Funds, expressed appreciation for the enduring support of the Corcoran family. She noted the significance of welcoming not only the second generation of the Corcoran family but also the third, underscoring how multi-generational commitment fosters a unique sense of camaraderie and community within The Ireland Funds. Caitriona shared her gratitude with all in attendance and spoke about the significance of the approaching 50th anniversary, reflecting on the profound changes in Ireland since 1976 while also recognizing the steadfast bond between Ireland and the United States, the remarkable generosity of our donors, and the transformative impact of their philanthropy in Ireland
Notable guests included Gene McQuade, Chair of The Ireland Funds America Board, and his wife Peggy, along with Boston Gala Committee Members: Jean Hynes and Nancy Sterling. We were thrilled to welcome as a special guest, former US Ambassador to Ireland Claire Cronin.
The night was a memorable celebration, made even more special by the presence of those dedicated to the mission of The Ireland Funds’ vital work across the island of Ireland.
