On Tuesday 28 February, The Ireland Funds Young Leaders were privileged to hear from Margot Slattery, Country President, Sodexo Ireland. Margot is part of Sodexo’s global LGBT network leadership team and Sodexo was a founding partner and signatory of Ireland’s first Diversity Charter. The company voted one of the Top Ten Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality in Ireland at the 2016 GLEN Workplace Equality Awards.
Margot is a champion of hard work, and a proponent of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. She spoke candidly with the Young Leaders about her career path and life decisions.
Margot was a campaigner and strong advocate of the 2015 Marriage Equality referendum in Ireland and explained to Young Leaders what it meant to her personally as well as the difference it had made in Ireland in terms of understanding. When asked for her advice to Young Leaders, Margot said to strive to know yourself better, and to be more daring and step out of your comfort zone.
Margot has received a Trailblazer Award at the 2016 WXN Most Powerful Women in Ireland Awards, CEO of the Year at IMAGE Businesswomen of the Year Awards for 2016 and Irish Tatler’s Businesswoman of the Year for 2016. Also on the 2016 Out at Work/Telegraph list of Top 50 LGBT Executives, OUTstanding’s 2016 list of Top 100 LGBT Business Leaders and Cranfield University School of Management’s list of 100 Women to Watch in 2016.
The Leadership Series was wonderfully funny, engaging, inspiring, and thoroughly enjoyable and we than Margot for taking the time to talk to us. We’d like to thank our host Davy and our guests who attended.
