On Friday November 4, 2011 the Ireland Fund hosted its inaugural cultural event – Blas. Blas is the Irish word for flavour, taste and style all of which our guests enjoyed.
This intimate evening was peppered with performance vignettes highlighting Irish culture. Guests were entertained by choral renditions of classic Irish compositions, introduced to baroque music and captivated by the words of Seamus Heaney.
Throughout the performances guests enjoyed classic Irish cuisine with a modern twist. The beef tenderloin with Jameson whiskey sweetbreads were a highlight.
We were thrilled to have Sean McCann from Great Big Sea perform at the end of the evening. When the whole room joined in to his rendition of I’m a Rover – we knew the night was a success.
