On 5 June Brisbane Young Leaders and supporters came together to connect and have some fun at Blackbird, a fabulous venue overlooking the city skyline.
Executive Director, Teresa Keating, provided a brief history of the Fund and how it was started by two young successful men in their 30’s Anthony O’Reilly and Dan Rooney 42 years ago. Today the Ireland Funds exist in 12 countries, supported over 3,200 projects in Ireland and Irish causes around the world and donated more than $600 million to those projects.
Teresa told guests we celebrated our 30th Anniversary in 2017, a fact of which we are very proud. We had a grant round of $416,000 in the financial year to June 2017 and over the last 5 years 93.5% of tax deductible donations received by us had been allocated to our charities.
Former Lord Mayor of Brisbane and Director, Sallyanne Atkinson AO thanked everyone for coming out mid week to support our activities and urged everyone to stay with us.
Director Dr. Tom Moore also thanked guests and Young Leader committee member Jude Bolger, told guests he was involved because he identified with giving back in Ireland and Australia the bonus was gatherings like this, enhancing all of our networks. Jude said he would love to see everyone at our Annual Brisbane Lunch on 3 August.
