The most eagerly awaited event in the Ireland Fund of Great Britain calendar took place on Saturday 4th December , The IFGB Winter Ball was held in the iconic Savoy Hotel, recently re-opened after a 2 year major refurbishment.
Over 350 guests enjoyed a champagne reception in the River Room followed by a fabulous dinner and dancing in the magical setting of the Lancaster Ballroom, the 1940’s dress code of White Mischief added an extra note of glamour to the evening.
Guests were welcomed by IFGB Co-Chair Basil Geoghegan who spoke about the shared ethos and uniqueness of The Ireland Funds which is the largest global Irish philanthropic group.
He reminded them that support is needed more then ever before for those that are in need of our help, in particular the beneficiaries of the Forgotten Irish Campaign, the elderly and vulnerable Irish living in the UK. He thanked everyone for their ongoing support and generosity.
Irish actor and director Adrian Dunbar was the guest speaker and he gave a entertaining account of successful irish artists who came to London including Oscar Wilde and George Bernard Shaw. He praised the work of the Ireland fund of Great Britain in continuing to raise funds and awareness in difficult economic times.
