On Friday June 6th our outstanding group of supporters braved the wind and driving rain for the 15th annual Day at the Races. There were plenty of bright hats, fascinators, ties and jackets to more than make up for the lack of sunshine.
Friends, family and colleagues enjoyed an afternoon of great food, frivolity and of course fabulous horse racing. Our outstanding Master of Ceremonies, Hugo Straney, kept the mood light while cajoling attendees to generously bid on live and silent auction items.
Proceeds from this event support the Celtic Studies program at St. Michael’s College and The Ireland Fund of Canada was proud to provide $30,000 towards the Artist-in-Residence program at this year’s event.
Heartfelt gratitude goes out to Eithne Heffernan for her enthusiasm and passion and for leading such a dedicated group of volunteers, Erin Cassidy, Nora Cooney, Kitty Freeley, Kevin Gallagher, Anne Looney, Cathy and Con O’Connell, John Sandeman and Maura Walsh.
Special thanks are also due to our race sponsors, Brandes Investment Partners, GFX Partners, Jovian Capital, KMPG and Michael and Eithne Heffernan.
