A Financial Forum

On May 6th, over 150 members of The American Ireland Fund Young Leaders and IN-NYC, in conjunction with the Consulate of Ireland, hosted a financial panel discussion at the Consulate General of Ireland.  Entitled “Pathways to Recovery,” the forum was introduced by Consul General Niall Burgess and included remarks by special guest Micheál Martin, T.D., Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Panelists included  AIF Chairman Loretta Brennan Glucksman (Chairman, The American Ireland Fund), Christopher “Kip” Condron (CEO, AXA), John Duffy (CEO, KBW), Michael Brewster (Managing Director, Credit Suisse) and Shaun Kelly (Vice Chair – Tax, KPMG).  Moderating the event was RTÉ reporter Tommie Gorman, who directed questions on the markets, bank stability, tax policies and the Irish government to each of the panelists.

The aim of the forum was both to benefit from the experience and wisdom of these five panelists and to bring together two young Irish-American networks. Fielding questions on such issues as the current global economy, pathways to recovery and future implications for the major economies of the world, the panel members, Minister Martin and Mr. Gorman did a great service by sharing their wisdom and expertise with the next generation of leaders.
