On Saturday, November 1st, over 150 friends and supporters of The Ireland Funds Chicago gathered for a celebratory brunch ahead of The Rematch: Ireland vs. New Zealand at Soldier Field. Held on the top floor of The Royal Sonesta Hotel, guests enjoyed spectacular views of the city while reconnecting with fellow Ireland Funds supporters who had traveled from across the U.S. and Ireland for this special occasion.
Áine Mallaghan, Vice President of The Ireland Funds America Midwest, welcomed attendees and introduced Minister for International Strategy and the Diaspora, Neale Richmond. Minister Richmond spoke warmly about the generous welcome he received in Chicago and emphasized the vital role the city and its Irish diaspora play in Ireland’s global relationships. He concluded by wishing everyone an enjoyable match.
Former Ireland internationals Andrew Trimble and Marcus Horan treated guests to an insightful pre-match analysis, sharing reflections on the historic 2016 game when Ireland defeated New Zealand for the first time.
With spirits high and camaraderie strong, guests departed energized and ready to cheer on Ireland at Soldier Field.
