On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, The New York Young Leaders gathered to celebrate St. Patrick’s season with 250 guests at The New York Athletic Club, to support the work of The Ireland Funds.
Claudia Cotter, Development & Young Leaders Manager at The Ireland Funds, welcomed the guests and gave a big thank you to the committee members and sponsors for all their support in ensuring the success of the event. Claudia highlighted The Ireland Funds’ support of thousands of charitable causes since its inception and emphasized the importance of the Young Leaders to be the next generation to carry on the torch
Rory MacIntyre, SVP & Chief of Staff of The Ireland Funds introduced the evening’s Honoree; Actress, Writer, Director, Siobhan McSweeney. Rory paid special tribute to all of her impressive work, in particular her iconic role as Sister Michael in Derry Girls. Rory presented Siobhan with The Ireland Funds, Performing Arts Award.
Siobhan McSweeney had the room in laughter from the moment she took the stage, but she also spoke with great sincerity with how inspired she was to be in a room of Young Leaders. Siobhan encouraged the next generation to take up the mantle of leadership and embrace the power of education, one of the pillars of The Ireland Funds’ mission.
Music was performed throughout the evening by Bloomberg Anchor, Vonnie Quinn, accompanied by acclaimed Musicians Gabriel O’Donoghue and Steve Holloway.
