Young Leaders – Global 5K: Great Britain
Jarlath Regan and Sonia O’Sullivan run 5km for The Ireland Funds!
Across the world runners took part in The Ireland Funds Global 5K on Saturday 24th September.
In Great Britain, Young Leaders, friends and supporters across the country supported us by running (or walking!) 5km and donating in support of our chosen charity, the London Irish Centre. Meanwhile, over in Dublin we had the honour of Irish running legend Sonia O’Sullivan and Irishman Running Abroad Jarlath Regan running 5km at the Poolbeg Parkrun, in the company of IFGB board members Rory Godson, Emily Bohill and Rachel Naughton. Well done to all our runners! Runners in London finished the day by enjoying well earned refreshing pints of Guinness at the after party hosted in Homeboy Battersea.
We were pleased to have raised £2,000 for the London Irish Centre through donations and sponsorship raised by Global 5K runners.
Séamus MacCormaic, CEO at London Irish Centre, said: “A huge thank you to The Ireland Funds and to everyone that took part in this year’s Young Leaders Global 5k! Thanks to your support, we are delighted that £2,000 was raised for the London Irish Centre. As we move forward with big plans for the future, we encourage you to continue getting involved – whether through volunteering in our advice and community outreach teams, our incredible culture programme, monthly donor scheme, venue hire or online shop. All proceeds go directly towards helping us serve London’s Irish community for generations to come. Go raibh míle maith agat.” (Head to londonirishcentre.org/get-involved to get involved)
Well done to all the runners over the world who took part in the Global 5K including the Australia, Singapore and Tokyo chapters.
