On Friday 16 August, an inspiring morning brought three worlds together. The Sydney Young Leaders hosted a corporate breakfast on the topic of ‘Finding Opportunities in a Changing World’. In the shining new office of Facebook’s Sydney HQ in Barangaroo positioned with backdrop of the Sydney Harbour.
After Sydney Young Leader Chair, Donna Campbell welcomed everyone, Andrew Scannell, Director of CaraCare gave thanks to the Young Leaders for their support of Caracare in the recent Grant Round of June 2019, and how this support is so impactful to young children’s lives who have been abused, traumatised and severely disadvantaged.
The panel hosted by our own Sydney Young Leader Seán Bryceland included Paul McCrory, Group Industry Director at Facebook, CFO of Wealth at Westpac and Chairman of The Ireland Funds Australia Yvonne Le Bas, and from Dublin via video link Tony Griffin Co-Founder & former CEO of Soar, a youth foundation working to uncover the greatness in all young people in Ireland.
A rich tapestry of discussion was had around bringing business, government and the Not-For-Profit sectors working together for the best results. People want purpose and to do things that matter, and brands and companies alike need to react to this. Organisations need to have their social license to be an advocate for their customers so they can become an advocate for the brands.
We looked to the future around the high expectations of customers – NOW is the new norm in all areas of our lives and businesses are working towards a zero-friction future where we can donate, work and live in an easier, better world.
Tony said it best when he said, ‘We are here to change the world’.
A huge thank you to our sponsor Clyde & Co, our three speakers and Facebook for hosting us.
