On Tuesday, 7 May, 2019, The Ireland Funds Women’s Lunch took place in the Garden Room at The Merrion and was attended by a capacity crowd of 105 women representing the business and philanthropy sectors.
Vice President and Director Ireland, Caitriona Fottrell, welcomed guests and thanked them for their support. She gave an overview of The Ireland Funds and highlighted two outstanding organisations it supports for their important work in the non-profit sector: CyberSafe Ireland, an organisation that empowers children, parents and teachers to navigate the online world in a safe and responsible manner and Daisyhouse Housing Association, an organisation that provides homeless women with the skills and confidence to live independently through the provision of secure, affordable, high quality housing.
After lunch, guests enjoyed a fascinating discussion between guest of honour Rosaleen Blair CBE, Founder and CEO of Alexander Mann Solutions, and Kathy Sheridan, writer with The Irish Times. Ms Blair described her early days in business, how she grew the hugely successful Alexander Mann Solutions and the resilience it requires to be an entrepreneur. She also spoke about her passion for supporting and investing in fellow female entrepreneurs.
The event was chaired once again by Louise Kennedy and The Ireland Funds Board Directors, Caroline Kennedy and Emer Gilvarry.
