Singapore – God Has No Country Performance and Workshops 2018

God Has No Country – Donal Courtney Comes to Singapore

In September of 2018 The Ireland Funds Singapore was instrumental in bringing renowned writer, teacher and actor Donal Courtney’s one-man show “God Has No Country” to Singapore. The play tells the amazing and little known story of Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty who heroically saved 6,500 Jews and Allied POWs during the second world war through what be came known as the “Rome escape line”. The audiences in Singapore were educated and entertained for three nights with this amazing story of valour which Donal brought to life with energy and charisma, and his engaging Q&A after each performance.

Thanks to a great collaboration with three of the major Arts schools in Singapore, namely LASALLE College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Intercultural Theatre Institute, Donal delivered  workshops for their students in writing, acting and the Irish story telling tradition. Students and faculty members found Donal’s workshops incredibly valuable with his unique take on acting and connecting with audiences.
