The American Ireland Fund Young Leaders Dallas Chapter Honors Michael Corboy
The Dallas Chapter of The American Ireland Fund hosted their St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at The Gin Mill on North Henderson, Dallas.
The event was a brilliant night with a top band from Ireland – Rula Bula coming over especially from County Monaghan. There was a live and silent auction with featured items that included an all-expenses paid trip to Newcastle, England with tickets to the Premier League Clash of Giants – Newcastle United and Liverpool FC (donated by Paul Devine, Vox Technologies Dallas), a signed jersey from the Dublin All Ireland Gaelic Football winning team 2011, and a signed jersey from the Kilkenny All Ireland Hurling winning team 2011 (both donated by Dessie Farrell, Gaelic Players Association and member of The Ireland Fund Young Leaders in Dublin).
The sponsors for the night were Kevin Curley (Curley Financial Group, Inc), Scapes Incorporated (Davey Devlin), Peter and Cheryl Kenny (The Gin Mill Bar), Dan O'Neal, and Trintech. A portion of the proceeds from the door ticket sales of the night went to Fionn MacCumhaill GAA Club, Dallas (www.dallasgaa.com), Dallas’s own Gaelic (‘Irish’) Football and Hurling Club. All other proceeds supported the Promising Ireland Campaign of The American Ireland Fund benefiting Irish charities.
As part of the festivities, the Young Leaders honored Michael Corboy, the patron of the Young Leaders in Dallas with a special gift of the book ‘Great Irish Heroes’ signed by Enda Kenny, Taoiseach (Prime Minister) in recognition of Mike Corboy's years of service to The American Ireland Fund and to Irish American philanthropic causes. Mike comes from a strong Irish American lineage and his grandfather, Edward Dunne, served as both Governor of Illinois and Mayor of Chicago in the early part of the twentieth century. Mike is a current member of the board of The American Ireland Fund and a major donor to many Irish /American and Dallas charities and foundations.
