On Thursday, 1 December 2011, the Australian Ireland Fund Young Leaders wrapped up the year with their Christmas Celebration at the spectacular Opera Bar. The venue treated our 100 guests with stunning views of the Opera House and Sydney Harbour, and the impromptu fireworks added to the great atmosphere.
The event gave the Australian Ireland Fund Young Leaders and their guests the opportunity to catch up & network, enjoy delicious canapés and a drink or two to celebrate the Christmas season whilst supporting the philanthropic work of the Australian Ireland Fund.
On the night a raffle was held to raise funds for the Irish Australian Welfare Bureau in the hope of providing Christmas Dinners for lonely elderly people. 12 exclusive Gold tickets to Celtic Thunder were to be won for their concert on the 16th of February. These priceless tickets had been donated to the Australian Ireland Fund Young Leaders Network courtesy of Ticketek. Second prize was a 16 years old Bushmills Whiskey Bottle.
A special thanks to Australian Ireland Fund Young Ambassadors Sophie Curran, Clare Foley, Brendan Sheehan Fiona Tuite, David Lally, Kerry Morrison and Fund Director Peter Ryan and Bruce Solimon of Opera Bar for providing and hosting such a stylish evening.
Special guests on the day also included Consul General Caitriona Ingoldsby and Executive Director Teresa Keating.
The Celebration turned out to be a brilliant evening for the Australian Ireland Fund Young Leaders and was no doubt an indication of the great potential of an inspired group the Australian Ireland Fund Young Leaders Network will be.
