The American Ireland Fund Women’s Group gathered on Thursday, September 24th to pay tribute to three outstanding women of the Irish Diaspora. Honoring New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, fashion designer Daryl K and Doctor Dubhfeasa Slattery of Dublin’s Temple Street Children’s University Hospital, the women of The American Ireland Fund convened for an evening that included wine, hors d’oeuvres and discussion between attendees and the three guests of honor.
Hosted by AIF Chairman Loretta Brennan Glucksman, the event welcomed fifty of the Fund’s greatest women supporters, who mingled with each other and the three honorees before a stunning backdrop of downtown Manhattan.
As Speaker Quinn, Dr. Slattery and Daryl each spoke a few words about themselves and their experiences, guests were able to ask questions of each woman and engage in a dialogue about their respective fields, Irish identity and what it is to be a woman of the Irish Diaspora.
Sponsored by Lucas Capital LLP, the event was a chance to make new friends and exchange ideas, while encouraging appreciation of both Ireland’s women and their accomplishments. Approaching the conversation from three diverse fields, each guest of honor brought a fresh perspective and unique experience to the table.
