b"FALL / WINTERConnect2 0 1 3Dear Friends and Supporters,We have entered a historic period for The Ireland Funds. The last six months of 2013 will bring to a closeLoretta Brennan Glucksman's Chairmanship of The American Ireland Fund.Loretta has been our Chairman for 18 yearsalmost half of the period of the history of the Funds. She has led us to levels of impact and influence unimaginable nearly two decades ago. She has greatly increased our support base andreach. She has overseen a great expansion in our grant making and revenues and, critically, chaired thePromising IrelandCampaign. As Loretta prepares to step down, the Promising IrelandCampaign will exceed our original goal of $100million by 50% despite the worst economic climate in decades. This outcome will mean that one third ofthe Funds total earnings since we were established 1976 will have been raised in the last five years.Themost important feature of the Campaign is the more than 350 organizations that have received support.Their work is the ultimate tribute to Lorettas tenure. Loretta carried out her duties with great grace andwarmth. For us on a staff level she is a constant source of warmth and friendship. We are privileged to workwith her.Loretta will be succeeded by the great and generous John Fitzpatrick. John has been a much admiredmember of our board for the last 10 years. He will carry on the baton from Loretta with the same commitment and concern. And so, as we prepare for great change, we look forward to great continuity in maintaining our commitment to Ireland guided by Lorettas clarity of mission which will be carried forward by John. Both Loretta and John serve with a deep sense of solidarity with Ireland and the projects wesupport.Their decency will distinguish the Funds. Thank you to our Chairman-emeritus,Loretta and to our Chairman-elect, John and to all of you for the success of thePromisingIreland Campaign. You are ensuring that we keep our promise to Ireland when it counts most. Kind regards,Kieran McLoughlinPresident and CEOThe Worldwide Ireland Fundsconnect2013 | 5"
