Event Committee 3 Richie Morrin, Maureen Dorsett, The last night of summer delivered perfect weather and the evenings program got underway with a welcome Margo Gaine, John Gainemessage from DC Young Leaders Steering Committee Chair, Megan Molloy. Megan thanked the eveningssponsors including The Northern Ireland Bureau who was the evenings presenting sponsor. National Director of the Young Leaders, Pat Tully gave an update on the Promising Ireland Campaign and the stateof the Young Leaders across the growing philanthropic network. Pat then handed the microphone over toNorman Houston, Director of the Northern Ireland Bureau, who spoke warmly about the bureaus long standing relationship with The American Ireland Fund. Normans remarks were followed by Kevin Conmy,Deputy Head of Mission of the Ireland Embassy, who thanked the Young Leaders for their commitment toIreland through The American Ireland Fund.1 2 3Expression of Solidarity with Victims of Hurricane SandyDECEMBER, 2012 The Washington, DC Young Leaders gathered at the Irish Embassy in Washington,1 Susan O'Neill, Amb. Collins, Rep. King, Pat TullyDC to raise money for Hurricane Sandy relief in New York and New Jersey. The event was hosted by Irish2 Rep. King, Rep. Owens, Ambassador to the U.S., Michael Collins and his wife Marie. U.S. Congressman, Peter King (R, New York) spoke Amb. Collins, Paul Quinn, Rep. Hochulabout the importance of the support of The American Ireland Fund during this unprecedented time of crisis. 3 Rep. King, Amb. CollinsIt was noted how swiftly The American Ireland Fund responded immediately following the crisis. AmbassadorCollins also recognized The American Ireland Funds gift of $250K to relief efforts and announced a gift fromthe Irish government of over $320,000 to the Irish-American communities of New York and New Jersey affected by Sandy.
