b'ConnectSPRING / SUMMER2 0 1 3Dear Friends and Fellow Donors,You are answering the call to support Ireland with remarkable generosity and commitment. Our Promising Ireland Campaign crashed through its original goal of $100 million and we are now on trackto achieve our revised goal of $140 million. This means we will have raised over one third of everythinggenerated by The Worldwide Ireland Funds since their establishment almost four decades ago, in thelast four years. This has never been more important as the Irish fight back to recover their fortunes. The not-for-profit sector is essential to this in terms of giving people the hope and wherewithallto rise above their circumstances and create a better future for themselves and their families. Of the300 or so projects across Ireland that we support every year, in this issue of Connect you will read about a number of them, including WALK, Yellow Flag, and No Mind Left Behind. We are very proudto support their work as an example of the best of Irish ingenuity and determination. In Northern Ireland, our work and support remain essential. The Peace Process remains a template for the world but its key lesson is that it takes and patience to unwind the enmity of the past.It is for this reason we were honored to present US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with a LifetimeAchievement Award for her deep commitment to Northern Ireland and its Peace Process. In herspeech, she endorsed our work, the projects we support and their impact in reaching across the sectarian divide. Their work provides an inspiration and pathway to reconciliation.Thank you again for all of your support and solidarity. You are making a difference when it counts most.Kind regards,Loretta Brennan GlucksmanChairmanThe American Ireland Fundconnect 2013 | 3'
