With comments such as its quite moving to stand in the House of Commons on the exact same spot where Oliver Cromwell declared England a republic in 1649 widespread the significance of the building and its impact in shaping the modern world was clearly not lost on those present. The show was the first major exhibition of Irish art in Amb. Dan Mulhall3Lewis McNaught London for over 30 years and contained more than 70 pieces from AIBs significant corporate collection which cares for works by many of Irelands greatest artists. Guests included Minister of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Heather Humphries, Rt. Hon. Michael Portillo, AIB Chairman Richard Pym and Ambassador Dan Mulhall. Some of the art on display included pieces by Jack B. Yeats, Sir John Lavery and Paul Henry as well as contemporary works from Louis Le Brocquy and twice Turner Prize nominee Sean Scully.
