In 2013, we distributed $21 million ofgrants. However, beyond our grantmaking, we are committed to developing the non-profit sector across the island of Irelandthrough a range of other supports. F RO M WOR K S H O P PA RT I C I PA N T S :Though demand for funding continues to exceed available resources, our experience in philanthropy across various countriesenables us to advise charities on their fundraising strategies and proposals even when we are not in a position to award a grant. Our knowledge of funding programmes within Ireland informs content delivered through grants workshops forprospective applicants, which give organisations the opportunity to learn more about our funding priorities and processeswhile providing general guidance on what funders look for in a competitive proposal. Where possible, we also bring in expertson issues such as compliance with charities regulation, governance, board development and taxation. Workshops are offered free of charge to participants and, by bringing the Grants Workshop to communities, we ensure thatthey are accessible for organisations around Ireland and Northern Ireland. From those who are successful in securing grants but equally from those who are not, feedback from participants shows thatthis is a valued and worthwhile investment in the non-profit sector.Jordan Campbell, Programmes Manager, The Ireland FundsS O M E C O M M E N T SA very well explained presentation with clear examples of strong and10Workshop participant from Cork Cityweak application answers. The content was excellent and the Q&A greatly assisted us in identifyingwhat The Ireland Funds are looking for in a quality submission.
