Over 150 people packed the event which began with an intimate champagne reception.Gov. Norman then introducedKevin Comny of the Irish Embassy who also spoke about the warm relationship with the Fund and Irish-America. Later in the evening, Steering Committee ChairMegan Molloyand Vice ChairPatrick Lyden presented the Irish Spirit Award to Governor OMalley who spoke about The Ireland Funds support for programs of peace and reconciliation. Then, in a surprise move, Governor OMalley picked up a guitar and performed with The DannyBurns Band. The crowd sang along and gave the Governor a rousing round of applause. Kevin Comny, Deputy Chief of Mission, thanked the Young Leaders for their 2Ambassador Anne Anderson 3Megan Molloy, Cathal Corcoran support of Ireland and Irish charities through their involvement with The American Ireland Fund and introduced the Irish Ambassador to The United States, Anne Anderson. Ambassador Anderson noted that the 2014 Samhain celebration was her first official event as Ambassador and spoke about how important the connection is between Irish-Americans and Ireland.
