Making Music Possible

Born from a landmark partnership between U2 and The Ireland Funds, Music Generation is reshaping how young people across Ireland experience music. Through sustained support, the program continues to open creative pathways for young people.

This innovative partnership has become a national program:

  • Making vocal and instrumental education affordable and widely available
  • Nurturing confidence, artistry, and a strong sense of community through music
  • Getting pivotal support from the Irish government and local music education
  • Creating job opportunities for hundreds of musicians

As a band, we believe music tuition should be available to anyone who wants it, whatever their background. We want to help to make this happen for Ireland’s children and young people – our ‘music generation’ of the future.

Music Generation to us was a stepping stone, an opening to a whole different world, because where we were from there was no ‘joining groups,’ unless it was violence. There was no community centre, there was nothing like that. So when we met the lads at Music Gen and saw that people are coming together to create music, that’s beautiful. That’s everything for someone who has nothing.
