Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Melbourne Race Day on Saturday 30 May 2026.

It was a fantastic day at Caulfield Racecourse as we came together for an afternoon of racing, connection and fundraising in support of the vital projects we support in Ireland and here in Australia. 

We were delighted to have Catherine Murphy, ABC Journalist and Presenter, return as MC for the day, alongside co-host Kate Watts, who kept the energy high throughout the afternoon. We were welcomed by Chair, Yvonne le Bas and also heard from H.E. Fiona Flood.  

Guests enjoyed a wonderful day networking, entertainment by the fabulous DJ Karla, a delicious 3 course lunch including Irish Coffees thanks to long-time supporter Diageo, while taking in all the excitement of the racetrack. 

A special thank you to our Gold Sponsor, Coolmore Australia, for their generous support of this year’s event. We were honoured to welcome Sean Keogh, Stud Manager Mount White, who shared insights into one of the world’s leading thoroughbred operations. 

We were very pleased to welcome Thomas and Monique Carberry of Thomas Carberry Racing, who were joined by guest Martin Falvey, owner-breeder of VRC Oaks winner Strictly Business. Martin shared fascinating stories from his distinguished involvement in thoroughbred racing and delighted guests by bringing along the VRC Oaks trophy, offering a unique opportunity to view the prestigious cup up close and capture some memorable photographs. 

Another highlight of the day was the running of the Coolmore Ireland Funds Australia Handicap Race. Thanks to the generosity of Caitrin Kelly, the winner of our exclusive raffle together with their guests, enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime Owners Experience. This included behind-the-scenes access to the racetrack, entry to the Winning Owners Room, witnessing the trophy presentation, celebrating with the winning connections and enjoying exclusive photo opportunities throughout the experience. 

The Live Auction, conducted by Cameron Fisher, Chairman of the MRC Foundation, was a standout feature of the afternoon. Generating great energy and friendly competition amongst guests, it not only added to the enjoyment of the day but also made a valuable contribution to our fundraising efforts.
