On a beautiful summer evening, more than 50 friends —both familiar and new — came together to celebrate community, connection, and the 50th anniversary of The Ireland Funds.

Chair James Keeley shared reflections on attending The Ireland Funds’ 50th Anniversary Conference in Dublin in June and encouraged guests to consider joining the next conference in Ireland in 2028. James also announced that the Young Leaders Green Gala will return to Café Brauer at Lincoln Park Zoo in February 2027, with additional details to be shared in the coming months.

Áine Mallaghan, Vice President of Development for The Ireland Funds Midwest, spoke about the organization’s impact in both Ireland and Chicago and encouraged attendees to get involved. Áine also announced that, following the success of The Ireland Funds Young Leaders Green Gala on March 6, 2026, the Chicago Young Leaders presented a $10,000 gift to Holy Trinity Youth Club in Belfast. This gift will enable Holy Trinity Youth Club to restart a street-based youth work program that was discontinued due to funding cuts. The program supports some of the most vulnerable and at-risk young people in the area who face violence and addiction. Áine emphasized that the efforts of the Chicago Young Leaders and the success of the Green Gala are making a tangible difference in people’s lives.

Attendees also viewed a short video message from Conor Largey, Senior Youth Worker at Holy Trinity Youth Club, expressing gratitude to the Chicago Young Leaders for their vital support.
