Boston Young Leaders St. Patrick’s Celebration
On Wednesday, March 12 The Ireland Funds Boston Young Leaders hosted a festive gathering of over 400 guests at their annual St. Patrick’s Celebration in the Wharf Room of the Boston Harbor Hotel. The Ireland Funds was delighted to welcome Ireland’s Minister for Enterprise, Tourism, and Employment, Peter Burke, TD; and Ireland’s Consul General of New England, Sighle Fitzgerald.
Maudy Dooher, Vice President of Development for The Ireland Funds New England, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and friends in attendance. She emphasized that community spirit is at the core of their mission and recognized the remarkable sense of community present that evening. Maudy acknowledged that through their generous support, everyone in the room was making a difference and bringing about positive change for the organizations The Ireland Funds supports.
Minister Burke in his address underlined the importance of the bi-lateral relationship between Boston and Ireland. The St. Patrick’s Celebration Co-Chairs, John Flaherty, Sean Hannigan, and Colleen Kelly presented Minister Burke with a customized Boston Bruins jersey, a small memento from his visit to Boston.
Last year, thanks in part to events like this, The Ireland Funds achieved one of the most impactful years of giving in; we granted over $28.5 million to support the work of more than 330 organizations across the island of Ireland.
The night was festive, featuring a lively performance by the local Irish band Devri and North American Irish champion dancers from the Harney Academy of Irish Dance.
